Seat deposits
Understand what each cabin tier actually books you into. Seat assignment is finalised at the airline.
Economy
The default cabin: 3-3 or 3-3-3 layouts on narrow-bodies and widebodies, 17–18 inch seat width, 30–32 inch pitch. Basic Economy fares often disallow seat selection until check-in.
Premium Economy
2-4-2 or 2-3-2 on widebodies, 38–40 inch pitch, wider seat, dedicated cabin. Available on long-haul international only.
Business
1-2-1 reverse-herringbone or 2-2-2 lie-flat on widebodies. 76–80 inch beds. Lounge access included on the operating carrier's network.
First
Suites or 1-1 lie-flat with sliding doors on a handful of carriers (Singapore, Qatar, ANA, Emirates). 6–8 seats per cabin.
